2020 was a big year for auto theft in the Denver metro and so far 2021 is looking just as bad. According to the Denver Post, here are the most stolen cars so far in 2021:
Chevrolet Silverado: 325
Ford F250: 248
Honda Accord: 241
Kia Optima: 201
Hyundai Sonata: 197
Honda Civic: 184
GMC Sierra: 144
Ford F350: 139
Hyundai Elantra: 138
Kia Sportage: 127
As far as the Chevy Silverado is concerned, the auto theft task force says often time this make and model is stolen for the tools in the truck rather than the vehicle itself. To help prevent having your car broken into or stolen, keep your windows rolled up and your doors locked, use a wheel lock or alarm system and don't leave your car running while unattended.
