Sheryl Crow & Maren Morris Debut "Prove You Wrong" at CMT Music Awards

The same day Sheryl Crow shared her brand new collaboration "Prove You Wrong" featuring Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris, she also performed the song for the very first time during the 2019 CMT Music Awards.

First, Morris — rocking a gorgeous corset sequin mini dress — performed her GIRL song "Shade," and then welcomed Crow to the stage with her acoustic guitar, and the two sang "Prove You Wrong." Although Nicks wasn't there to sing her part, Sheryl and Maren sounded amazing together as they performed the empowering anthem.

Talk about girl power — as they sang on stage: "It wouldn't take much to prove you wrong/ I got my mind made up and my high heels on."

"Prove You Wrong" is from Crow's forthcoming new project Threads, which is set to be released in August and also features artists including Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, Eric Clapton, Sting, James Taylor, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Margo Price, and more.

Crow recently explained to iHeartRadio of how "Prove You Wrong came together, "I started this project about three years ago, and it started with Kris Kristofferson and recording with him. And I've known him for many, many years, and I started feeling like, 'You know what? I want to start calling in people that I've loved and have inspired me from the very beginning.' So one of the first people I thought of was Stevie Nicks. I sent her this song and said, 'Would you record with me?' And she did and it was just a beautiful experience. Then I felt like, 'You know what would be really cool is to be able to pay it forward to someone who I feel like is an extension of Stevie and I.' We both grew up loving rock and roll. Maren is a really tough, but super sweet, great songwriter, great musician, and I think she's going to be around for a long time. I've loved getting to know her and getting to work with her. So, I asked her if she would be a part of this collaboration that Stevie and I did, and that's how 'Prove You Wrong' came about."
