Few things are better than a long drive down a scenic stretch of road on a bright, sunny day, twisting and turning along highways framed by patches of wildflowers and breathtaking views of the surrounding land. Add to that a few beloved passengers and the radio blasting all your favorite songs, and you've got a warm memory in the making.

According to a list compiled by Cheapism, the "most scenic highway drive" in all of Colorado is Trail Ridge Road. This "signature" roadway found in Rocky Mountain National Park highlights the beauty of the surrounding nature and is even the highest continuously-paved road on the entire continent.

Here's what the site had to say about the most scenic drive in the state:

"The 47-miles-long Trail Ridge Road is the signature drive of Rocky Mountain National Park. The highest continuously paved road in North America, it rises to 12,183 feet amid rugged peaks. Following a route past the Continental Divide once traversed by generations of Native Americans, visitors today can see elk and bighorn sheep. The road is closed during the region's harsh winters and usually reopens in May."
