How Did The Rockies Choose Dinger As Their Mascot

Dinger maybe the most controversial mascot of all time. Often Rockies fans ask "How does a Triceratops signify the Colorado Rockies baseball organization?" It turns out there's actually a really cool answer to this question.

When Coors Field was being built construction workers actually discovered a pile of dinosaur bones while digging the foundation. One of the bones discovered was a 7 foot long, 1,000lb triceratops skull! That's what led to Dinger eventually being the mascot. Not only that but Coors Field was also named Jurassic Park due to the discovery!
