A Washington state woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly chasing a child riding a dirt bike onto a sidewalk and later attempting to enter a stranger’s home in Spokane County. According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Monday, April 28, in the 7500 block of South Fruitvale Road.

Deputies say Wendy A. Clemente, 56, drove her silver Ford Focus onto a residential sidewalk and tried to hit a boy riding a dirt bike. Cellphone video recorded by a neighbor captured the vehicle swerving toward the child, honking repeatedly, and following him onto the sidewalk. The car narrowly missed a fire hydrant and shrubbery before reentering the road and driving off. The child was not injured during the incident, according to the sheriff’s office press release.

About 25 minutes later and a mile away, deputies responded to a report of a possible burglary on West Melville Road. A homeowner, monitoring their property through a live security system, saw a woman attempting to open the door. When deputies arrived, they found Clemente and her vehicle parked in the driveway. She was arrested at the scene.

Authorities said Clemente claimed she was taking her dog for a ride and stopped when she noticed other dogs in the yard, denying any attempt to enter the home and stating she did not recall the earlier sidewalk incident. Deputies noted signs of impairment; Clemente initially denied drinking but later admitted to consuming alcohol. She resisted arrest, allegedly trying to kick a deputy as they attempted to place her in the patrol car.

Clemente was booked into jail on charges including first-degree attempted assault, driving under the influence, and first-degree criminal trespass. At her court appearance the next day, a court commissioner ordered that she be released on her own recognizance without bond. Authorities obtained a search warrant for a blood sample as part of the DUI investigation.

No injuries were reported in either incident. The case remains under investigation, and future court dates are expected as the charges move forward.
